Community Responder in Ireland


"Community responders" are local first responder teams in Ireland, brought together by an urge to render aid before the ambulance proper arrives. Few have their own vehicles - but the Irish Red Cross had this West Meath-registered Renault on show at Trim.

The livery is very much the standard IRCS color scheme, but quite spectacular on this little "racer".

DKW in Spanish is Audi

Another example of the German DKW minibus converted to an ambulance. In service with the Spanish Red Cross.

Note that it has the Ausi-rings as a manufacturer's symbol on the hood. After DKW went bust in Germany, many models were still produce under the Audi brand name in Spain.

Basic Ambulance in Pakistan

Duro Protected Ambulance - Germany

Fancy a bit of wartime service? If so, you will be happy to know that there are medics and ambulances backing you up. And that those ambulances can even withstand attacks. Without being as cumbersome and slow as a tank. Germany now uses the "Duro" protected ambulance - built by Mowag. By the way, the name stands for "durable and robust".

1968 Pontiac - An American Classic
